On this page are examples of students assignments, reports, and dissertations which have been judged to be outstanding, and these exemplar works include those written by the winners of Oaklands HE Awards for Student Academic and Professional Excellence. They are of a standard which we hope all our students aspire to achieve!
You will also find copies of dissertations and final year projects in the Learning Centre at WGC campus and online – search for ‘Dissertations’ on Eclipse, the LRC resources catalogue, at any campus.
2012-13 HE Award Winners:

James Green – Analysis of Students’ Social Facilities within Higher Education (Award in Research Methods)
2011-12 HE Award Winners:
Edward Will – A critical appraisal of redundancy as a business strategy for UK construction companies during recession
Clive Charters – Analysis of the impact on social housing providers of reduced government grant and investigation of alternative funding opportunities
Oaklands HE Awards for Student Academic and Professional Excellence
These awards cover three categories:
- Award in Academic Excellence for final project or dissertation
- Award in research methods and application
- Award in professional and practical applications
The college principal has generously agreed to fund each award with a £50 voucher for each first prize awarded.
